The Stabat Mater for Mariupol by Lucio Mosè Benaglia in the Munich Theatinerkirche

On 16.11.2024 at 8 p.m. in the prestigious venue of the Theatinerkirche in Munich, a beautiful Baroque church adjoining the royal palace and at that time the court church of the King of Bavaria, there will be a concert in memory of Sister Zaira Dovico, a nun of the Bellamore Sisters order who died prematurely a few months ago after a short illness.

In addition to Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem in an interesting arrangement for string orchestra by American composer Edgar F. Girtain IV, the concert will also feature Lucio Mosè Benaglia’s Stabat Mater for Mariupol Op. 34 in the version for soloists, chamber choir and string orchestra.

The performance will be entrusted to Munich’s MaxVokal accompanied by the Ukrainische Kammerphilarmonie. The solo part will be sung by soprano Diana Fischer and contralto Ruth Volpert. Conductor will be Gerald Häußler.
