Motet for double choir by Johann Simon Mayr (1763-1845)
Text: from Psalm 50

Instrumentation: Double choir a cappella
First modern performance | Interpreters: 2011 – Maximilianskirche in Munich – Maxchor and Coro S.Giorgio di Acquate under the direction of Gianmarco Aondio.
Edition: unpublished work
Description: interesting unpublished piece by J.S.Mayr, Bavarian composer, chapel master in H.M.Maggiore in Bergamo and teacher of Gaetano Donizetti. The revision has been made on the manuscript kept in the Library of MIA in Bergamo by courtesy of the same. The first performance was carried out as part of the choral exchange project “Duello”, promoted by Lucio Mosè Benaglia, which also saw the piece performed in the Asamkirche in Ingolstadt, in the basilica of S.Maria della Vittoria in Lecco and in the basilica of S.M.Maggiore in Bergamo.
We would like to thank the Biblioteca Civica Angelo Mai, music section, for making available a copy of the manuscript on the basis of which this revision was made.
